New York FBI Addresses Explorer Post 007
Jose Flores of the NY FBI Underwater Search & Evidence Response Team and his fellow team members were the guest speakers at this week’s Explorer Post meeting. They gave the post an overview of what requirements there are to join the team, as well as the training they undergo -- some of which is with the US Navy divers. They also brought some equipment and were able to show us the differences between their equipment and protocols and those of recreational diving. Everyone was interested to hear about the events they have responded to including the recent “Miracle on the Hudson” and their methods for making searches. The post members had some great questions for the team who generously shared anecdotes on the “most rewarding” dive and the “strangest thing found under water” which turned out to be a Buffalo head! We would like to extend a huge thank you to the USERT for their time and giving us such a fun and informative evening.
